Why This Matters to Your Patients

A diagnosis should follow the evidence. But in recent years, a number of private ADHD services have attracted serious criticism — diagnoses issued without adequate clinical depth, assessments reduced to questionnaires, and little consideration of the broader psychiatric picture.

The consequence for GPs is real: patients arriving with reports that don't hold up, prescriptions that need questioning, and trust in the process that's already been eroded.

Your patients deserve better. So do you.

ADHD Doesn't Exist in Isolation

In adults, attentional difficulties are rarely straightforward. Anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, and sleep disorders can all produce overlapping symptoms. Many adults have spent years masking difficulties, making surface-level screening entirely inadequate.

A responsible assessment has to go deeper — developmental history, longitudinal functioning, differential diagnosis, and an honest consideration of what else might explain the presentation.

Sometimes the answer is ADHD. Sometimes it isn't.

Formulation First. Diagnosis Follows.

Dr Musa Sami is a Consultant Psychiatrist. His assessments are not built around confirming a diagnosis — they are built around understanding the patient.

If the clinical picture supports an ADHD diagnosis, that will be clearly documented and explained. If it doesn't, the patient leaves with a clinically meaningful formulation and appropriate recommendations — not an answer engineered to meet their expectations.

This is what rigorous psychiatric assessment looks like.

The Pathway

For General Practitioners
  • GP Referral

Complete our secure online referral form, and we will contact your patient directly to begin the assessment pathway.
  • Initial ADHD Screening

The patient completes the ASRS v1.1 screening. If the results indicate ADHD, we proceed with the full assessment process.
  • Assessment Preparation

Patients complete questionnaires, developmental history forms, and provide relevant supporting information before their appointment.
  • The assessment (90 minutes)

A comprehensive consultant psychiatrist-led assessment exploring ADHD symptoms, developmental history, and differential diagnoses.
  • Outcome

A detailed diagnostic report is shared with you, with the patient's consent, including clinical findings and recommendations.
No templates. No shortcuts.

You'll Know Exactly Where We Stand

Reports are written to be clinically useful, not administratively complete. You will see the reasoning, the differentials considered, and the recommendations — in plain clinical language.

If you want to discuss a patient before referring, we welcome that. If something in a report needs clarification, we're available.

We understand that you carry continuity for these patients long after the assessment is done.

On Diagnosis, Responsibility, and Trust

Not every patient who presents for ADHD assessment has ADHD. Saying so clearly — and acting on it — is not a failure of the service. That is the point of it. Dr Musa Sami's commitment is to clinical integrity. If that means a smaller caseload, so be it.

If you have a patient who may benefit — or you'd like to discuss suitability first — we're happy to talk.
